Our History

The history of Six Nineteen of 1865 is a tale of creativity, friendship, and celebration. It all began during a summer vacation in Hilton Head, South Carolina, where friends gathered to unwind and enjoy each other’s company.

Among them was a friend, Charles Anderson, Esq., whose knack for mixology and innovative spirits led to the creation of a refreshing coconut rum cocktail that quickly became a favorite among the group as they tasted it for the first time on June 19, 2022. It was within this circle of friends that the idea for a pre-mixed alcoholic drink was born.

Entrepreneur Babette B. Jones, a woman of boundless energy and creativity, came up with the idea of building a brand around Charles’ creation after witnessing the overwhelming compliments about
the cocktail.

Named in honor of Juneteenth, a day commemorating freedom and liberation and the date the drink was first created, the original coconut rum cocktail took on a special significance. It is a symbol of resilience, unity, and the triumph of the human spirit over adversity.

Inspired by the success of the original coconut rum cocktail, Six Nineteen of 1865 decided to expand its offerings to include a variety of flavors that capture the essence of bringing the WORLD together and celebrate the diversity of taste.

Alongside the original Coconut Rum Base Cocktail, two additional flavors were developed — Grapefruit Agave Cocktail and Passion Fruit Mocktail.

The story of Six Nineteen of 1865 is also deeply intertwined with the memory of a beloved friend and member of the group who first tasted the original coconut rum beverage – Dr. Jimmie Flythe, Jr. Babette and Jimmie were not just friends; they were entrepreneurs, visionaries, and kindred spirits who shared a dream of bringing people together from all walks of life.

Sadly, Jimmie’s life was cut short at the age of 51, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and boundless generosity. His spirit lives on in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved him, especially his wife Kandace, their two daughters, Kendall and Kori, and Babette, who continues to honor his memory through her entrepreneurial gifts.

As we embark on this incredible journey, we raise our glasses to toast Jimmie’s life and legacy, and cheers to everyone who delights in and shares Six Nineteen, a spirit of excellence.
