First Black Woman-Owned Spirits Brand in South Carolina Launching in Greenville – WYFF News
GREENVILLE, S.C. — Six Nineteen Spirits 1865 is the first African American-owned ready-to-drink spirits brand in South Carolina.
Founder and CEO Babette Jones was awarded $5,000 through Greenville Starts by the Hill Institute of Innovators and Entrepreneurs, where she competed against 27 others for a business startup.
Jones said, “During my eight-week research, or in the boot camp, I wanted to see how many minority liquor owners there were, and it’s a very overpopulated space, but very underrepresented.”
“It’s about me helping other entrepreneurs help bring their dreams to reality,” Jones said.
Jones said, “As minorities, sometimes a stumbling block is finances. I’ve truly been blessed with a great team. I have one good friend that became my family, that’s my partner, that has just really got us to the next level. I’m truly grateful for him and his family and all of the investors that have just poured into me.”
The ready-to-drink (RTD) cocktails and mocktails company is hosting its official product launch party to debut its brand.
This weekend, Jones will host a launch party to introduce the company’s inaugural liquor-infused flavors, a coconut rum cocktail and a grapefruit agave cocktail, and provide an exclusive sampling of its first mocktail, a non-alcoholic passion fruit flavor.
Six Nineteen Spirits 1865 is the first African American-owned ready-to-drink spirits brand in South Carolina.
The sold-out event will unite more than 700 guests to mix, mingle, celebrate entrepreneurism, taste the new premium spirits product offerings, and enjoy complimentary food and live entertainment.
